# Terms of Use — Clavex

## 1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using Clavex ("the App"), 
you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not 
agree, do not use the App.

## 2. Description of service

Clavex is a local password manager that stores your passwords 
exclusively on your device using AES-256 encryption. The App does 
not require an account, does not transmit your passwords over the 
internet, and does not store any of your data on external servers.

## 3. User responsibilities

By using Clavex, you agree that you are solely responsible for:

- **Remembering your PIN.** There is no recovery mechanism. 
  If you lose your PIN, your encrypted data cannot be recovered 
  by you or by us.
- **Creating regular backups.** We strongly recommend using the 
  built-in export feature to back up your passwords regularly. 
  Loss of data due to device failure, uninstallation, or forgotten 
  PIN is solely your responsibility.
- **Securing your device.** Clavex's security depends on the 
  physical security of your device. We are not responsible for 
  unauthorized access resulting from a lost, stolen, or compromised device.
- **Keeping your export file safe.** Exported `.pwdvault` files 
  are encrypted but should be stored securely. Loss of the export 
  file and its password means permanent loss of your backed-up data.

## 4. Disclaimer of warranties

**THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY 
OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:**

- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Guarantees of uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Guarantees that the App will meet your specific requirements
- Guarantees of absolute security against all threats

**USE OF THE APP IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.**

## 5. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE DEVELOPER 
SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

- Loss of passwords or data of any kind
- Loss resulting from forgotten PIN or lost export files
- Loss resulting from device failure, theft, or damage
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities

**THIS LIMITATION APPLIES EVEN IF THE DEVELOPER HAS BEEN ADVISED 
OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.**

In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties 
or the limitation of liability, our liability shall be limited to the 
maximum extent permitted by law.

## 6. Data and privacy

Clavex does not collect personal data. Your passwords are stored 
locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.

## 7. In-app advertising

Clavex displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. 
By using the App, you acknowledge that AdMob may collect certain 
device information as described in [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).

## 8. Intellectual property

Clavex and all its content, features, and functionality are 
owned by Manuel Arroyo and are protected by applicable 
intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, 
or reverse engineer any part of the App without prior written permission.

## 9. Prohibited uses

You agree not to use Clavex to:

- Store or manage data obtained through illegal means
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

## 10. Updates and changes

We reserve the right to:

- Update or modify the App at any time
- Change these Terms of Use at any time

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance 
of the new terms. We will notify users of significant changes 
via a Play Store update notice.

## 11. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. 
We reserve the right to discontinue the App at any time 
without prior notice.

## 12. Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance 
with the laws of Spain, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
